All requests to the Township for the services of off-duty police
officers shall be forwarded to the Chief of Police, or designee, for
posting at least 10 days before such services are required. Any police
officer, when so employed by the Township, shall be treated as an
employee of the Township; provided, however, that wages earned for
outside employment shall not be applied toward the pension benefits
or shall hours worked for outside employment be considered in any
way compensable as overtime.
[Amended 8-2-2023 by Ord. No. 2023-17]
A. Rates of compensation for contracting the services of off-duty police
officers shall be uniform, regardless of the officer's rank,
and shall include fringe benefits, as may be established and/or amended
from time to time by the Township Council.
B. An additional fee, as may be established and/or amended from time
to time by the Township Council, will be charged for utilization of
police vehicles.
All ordinance codes or parts thereof inconsistent with any of
the provisions of this new policy are hereby repealed to the extent
of such inconsistency. If any section or provision of this chapter
shall be held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, the
same shall not affect the other sections or provisions of this chapter,
except so far as the section or provision so declared invalid, which
shall be inseparable from the remainder of any portion thereof.
