It shall be the duty of the owner and/or occupant of every property located in Springettsbury Township, York County, Pennsylvania, to keep all trees on or in front of his property, with branches extending over the cartway of any public road or street, trimmed or cut and kept trimmed or cut, such branches and limbs thereof so extending so as to maintain a clearance of at least 14 feet above the cartway.
The owner of vacant property and the owner and/or occupant of an occupied property shall be responsible for performing the duties imposed by § 227-8 of this article.
The Board of Supervisors of Springettsbury Township or any officer or employee of the Township so designated by the said Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to give notice by personal service or by United States mail to the owner and/or occupant, as the case may be, of any violation of the provisions of § 227-8 of this article to conform to the requirements of § 227-8 within five days after the service of said notice by personal service or the mailing of said notice by United States mail.

Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provision of this article, upon conviction thereof in an action brought before a district justice in the manner provided for the enforcement of summary offenses under the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure, shall be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $5 nor more than $1,000 plus costs and, in default of payment of said fine and costs, to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 90 days. Each day that a violation of this article continues or each section of this article which shall be found to have been violated shall constitute a separate offense.
