[Adopted 3-13-1990 by L.L. No. 3-1990]
This article shall be known as the "Mandatory Separation of
Paper, Glass, Plastic and Aluminum Law of the Town of Beekman."
The Town Board acknowledges that the cost of solid waste disposal
is rapidly increasing while at the same time solid waste disposal
capacity within existing regulations is limited in the Town and, in
general, within the region. By establishing a mandatory program of
recycling by separating paper, glass, plastic and aluminum from garbage
and trash, the life of existing disposal facilities will be extended
by reducing the amount of solid waste to be disposed of and, in turn,
the overall cost of solid waste disposal will be reduced. The Town
Board has, towards the fulfillment of this goal, arranged for joint
use of a transfer station with the Town of Union Vale.
A program for the mandatory separation of paper, glass, plastic
and aluminum for garbage and trash to be disposed of at the facility
