The provisions of law regulating the retirement from active service and placing upon a pension roll any permanent member of the Fire Department permanently disabled from performing duty as a member of the Department by reason of injuries sustained or illness incurred in the actual performance of his duty shall apply to any call fire fighter or volunteer fire fighter of the Fire Department so disabled, subject to the discretion of the City Council and to the conditions following in this article.
Every call fire fighter or volunteer fire fighter so disabled shall make application to the City Council for retirement on a pension.
Every applicant for a pension under the provisions of this article shall be examined by a physician designated by the City, who shall submit to the City Council a written report of the physical condition of the applicant, certifying to his permanent disability if it exists.
A. 
The pension, if granted, shall in no case exceed 1/2 the amount which, at the time of passing the order for such pension, shall be the established pay of a regular permanent fire fighter of the Fire Department of the City and shall be granted subject to decrease or revocation at the will of the City Council.
B. 
The City Council may at any time require a person receiving such a pension to submit an annual financial statement on a form prescribed by the Council.
A physician designated by the City shall, at least once a year and at all other times when requested by the City Council, examine all persons receiving pensions under the provisions of this article and report to the City Council the physical condition of such persons at the time of each such examination.
Call fire fighters or volunteer fire fighters shall be paid at the rate of a reserve fire fighter on an hourly basis, with a minimum of two hours.
