For the purpose of this chapter, certain words
and terms used herein are defined as follows:
ARTERIAL STREET
A street which serves or is designed to be used primarily
for fast or heavy traffic.
COLLECTOR STREET
A street which carries traffic from minor streets to the
major system of secondary or arterial streets; the principal entrance
and circulation streets within a development.
CONSERVATION DISTRICT ROADS
A street, either private or dedicated to the Town, with a reduced construction specification in exchange for a reduced planned usage as defined under §
240-32B of Chapter
240, Zoning.
DRIVEWAY
A private road connecting a dwelling, building or other structure
situate within the Town of LaGrange with a road shown on an approved
plat, a Town road, a county road or a state highway.
EASEMENT
Authorization by a property owner for the use by another,
for a specified purpose, of any designated part of his property.
MINOR STREET
A street intended to serve primarily as an access to abutting
residential properties.
OFFICIAL MAP
The map and any amendments thereto adopted by the Town Board
under § 270 of the Town Law.
OFFICIAL SUBMITTAL DATE
The date when a subdivision plat shall be considered submitted to the Planning Board, as provided in § 276 of the Town Law, hereby defined to be the date of the meeting of the Planning Board 30 days prior to which all required surveys, plans and data described in Article
V are submitted and deemed complete and adequate by the Planning Board. For purposes of preliminary plats, the date shall be the meeting of the Planning Board at which a preliminary public hearing layout is found acceptable and complete per §
203-9E of this chapter.
PRIVATE ROAD
A right-of-way for vehicular traffic, including road, avenue,
lane, highway, traveled way, and shoulders, not intended to be dedicated
to the Town.
REALIGNMENT
A change in a common property line of two or more existing
lots in a subdivision or two or more existing parcels of land whether
in an existing subdivision or not.
RESUBDIVISION
A change in a subdivision plat or resubdivision plat filed
in the office of the Dutchess County Clerk, which change affects any
street layout shown on such plat, affects any area reserved thereon
for the public use or diminishes the size of any lot shown thereon.
RIGHT-OF-WAY
The full width of a street or easement between property lines.
SECONDARY STREET
A street which serves or is designed to serve as a route
connecting different parts of the Town.
SKETCH PLAN
An accurate sketch map made on a topographic survey map showing
the proposed subdivision in relation to existing conditions.
STREET
A right-of-way for vehicular traffic, including road, avenue,
lane, highway, traveled way, and shoulders.
STREET PAVEMENT
The wearing of the exposed surface of the roadway used by
vehicular traffic.
STREET WIDTH
The distance between property lines comprising the right-of-way.
SUBDIVIDER
Any person, firm, corporation, partnership or association
who shall lay out, for the purpose of sale or development, any subdivision
or part thereof as defined herein, either for himself or others.
SUBDIVISION
The division of any parcel of land into two or more lots,
plots, sites or other division of land, with or without streets, for
the purpose of immediate or future sale or building development.
SUBDIVISION PLAT
The final map or drawing on which the subdivider's plan of
subdivision is presented to the Planning Board for approval and which,
if approved, will be submitted to the County Clerk for recording.
SUPERINTENDENT
The duly elected Town Superintendent of Highways or other
such authorized official.
TOWN PLAN
A comprehensive plan for development of the Town prepared
by the Planning Board, pursuant to § 272-a of the Town Law,
which indicates the general locations recommended for various public
works and reservations and the general physical development of the
Town, and includes any part of such plan separately adopted and any
amendment to such plan or parts thereof.
