The Mayor may appoint a Harbormaster, subject to the approval of the
Board of Trustees. The appointment shall be for a term of one official year,
and any vacancy in the position of Harbormaster may be filled by appointment,
in the same manner as the original appointment, for the balance of an unexpired
term. Any person holding an appointment as Harbormaster on the effective date
of this chapter shall continue to serve in such position until his successor
is qualified and shall have the powers and duties set forth herein.
The Harbormaster shall have the following powers and duties:
A. To serve as liaison between the Village of Woodsburgh
and any agency, board or commission of any other government having jurisdiction
over the waters in or adjacent to the village.
B. To make provisions for the assistance of distressed persons
on the waters of the Village of Woodsburgh.

The Harbormaster shall have the powers of a peace officer, pursuant
to Subdivision 19 of § 2.10 of the Criminal Procedure Law; provided,
however, that the Harbormaster shall not carry or use firearms in the course
of his or her duties.
