The Town of Union Vale does not condone and will not tolerate sexual harassment of any nature in the Town of Union Vale.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
SEXUAL HARASSMENT
Any unwelcome sexual advance, request for sexual favors or any other verbal or physical conduct or contact of a sexual nature that is connected to employment (operational) decisions or working conditions or that establishes an intimidating or offensive working condition.
Any Town of Union Vale elected or appointed official who believes that he or she is the subject of sexual harassment should communicate the facts at once to any member of the Town Council or the Supervisor, and said official shall immediately prepare a record of the complaint.

Complaints of sexual harassment shall be investigated promptly and treated as confidentially as will the circumstances may permit. The Town Board will discuss the results of the investigation in executive session and decide on any action to be taken.

Persons making complaints will be expected to cooperate, on request, by making all the facts of the incident available in writing. Retaliation against any person who makes a complaint is also prohibited under this policy.
Disciplinary action, as appropriate, will be taken when investigation of a sexual harassment complaint affirms that such action is appropriate.
