The Town of Concord participates in the New
York State Retirement System. All full-time employees must become
a member upon employment with the Town of Concord. Part-time employees
must be given the opportunity to sign with the retirement system if
they so choose.
The governing board of a municipal corporation
may provide that municipal employees, including those of the municipal
public library, be paid for earned and credited vacations prior to
the commencement thereof. 27 Op. State Compt. 131, 1971.
Prior to retirement, employees of the Town of
Concord will have the option of either having their unused sick leave
(not exceeding 160 days) applied as additional service credit on a
calendar basis for the New York State Retirement System (41J) or have
the unused sick leave applied to the cost of their health care premium,
i.e., 160 days of accumulated sick leave equals 160 days of health
care coverage.
The Town of Concord highway employees will receive
a paid lunch break under the following conditions: Effective November
30, 1998, only those full-time highway employees (year-round) working
the night shift (from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) during the winter season
will receive a paid lunch break consisting of 1/2 hour.
Effective November 30, 1998, full-time permanent
employees of the Town of Concord, New York, Highway Department working
the 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. shift will receive an additional $0.20
an hour. This shift differential will be effective for the winter
season only, as designated by the Superintendent of Highways. Payment
for time worked in excess of 40 hours per week shall be calculated
for these employees based upon base pay plus the $0.20 an hour shift
differential at time plus 1/2. For example, an employee earning $10
per hour regularly working the 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. shift shall
earn $10.20 per hour for all hours worked up to 40 hours and $15.30
per hour in excess of 40 hours.
The Town of Concord Town Board has the right
to set the salary of all new employees.
All new employees, full- or part-time, have
a probationary period of 12 months.

A. The Town Board of the Town of Concord recommends and
endorses the fact that all elected or appointed officers shall take
advantage of training for their respective offices provided by the
town and county training school of the State of New York for the purpose
of improving the administration of municipal affairs in the Town of
Concord.
B. All requests to attend any conference or training
which requires traveling of over 75 miles in each direction shall
require Town Board approval. The first priority should be local training.
Overnight lodging shall also, on an individual basis, become subject
to prior Town Board approval.

Employees shall be allowed to answer fire calls
during daytime hours, to be paid and not have to make up the time
taken.
