The following is a statement of the code of conduct expected of officers and employees of Athens Township in the procurement of supplies, services or other contracts related to ordinary Township operations or administration of grant programs received by the Township.
A. 
All officers and employees are to avoid all real or apparent conflicts of interest in purchasing or awarding contracts. Officers and employees must not participate in selecting, awarding or administering a purchase or contract if to their knowledge any of the following individuals or organizations has an interest, financial or otherwise, in the firm of a prospective prime contractor or in any subcontractors or suppliers considered for awards:
(1) 
The employee or officer involved in making the award.
(2) 
Any member of his/her immediate family.
(3) 
His/her partner.
(4) 
Any organization employing or about to employ any of the above.
B. 
No officer or employee shall accept any gratuity or kickback as a result of any purchase or contract made by the Township. Use of confidential information and public access to certain information and records shall be limited in conformance with the Pennsylvania State Ethics Act 170[1] and the rulings of the Pennsylvania State Ethics Commission. All procurement activities of the Township will be carried out in compliance with the Pennsylvania Township Code.
