As used in this article, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
PERSONAL USE HELIPORT
A helicopter landing area licensed by the Pennsylvania Department
of Transportation for the purpose of picking up or discharging passengers
or cargo. No fueling, helicopter repair or storage areas are permitted
in conjunction with the operation of a personal use heliport.
A personal use heliport shall be permitted as
a special exception in the Business and Professional, Commercial,
Industrial and Institutional Zoning Districts only when licensed by
the Bureau of Aviation of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
and shall be subject to the standards of the district in which it
is located as well as the following conditions:
A. Fencing which does not interfere with the landing
of the helicopters shall be required by the Zoning Hearing Board whenever
necessary to restrict pedestrian access to the landing area.
B. No personal use heliport shall be located closer than
100 feet to the property line of the parcel on which it is located
or 500 feet to a residential district.
