Nominating petitions for elective City offices shall be filed with the City Clerk not later than 4:00 p.m. on the 12th Tuesday preceding the election in question. Each nominated candidate shall file with the City Clerk an acceptance of nomination and an affidavit as to qualifications, and a filing fee of $35 shall be paid to the City Treasurer, not later than 4:00 p.m. on the 12th Tuesday preceding the election in question.
All City Charter provisions concerning the nomination of elective City offices, other than those provisions directly altered by § 58-1 of this article, shall continue in effect. The City Commission hereby determines that the alterations accomplished by § 58-1 are required by the Michigan Election Law, MCLA 168.644e, as amended.
