There is hereby created within the Wilkinsburg Police Department a Juvenile
Squad to be headed by a Lieutenant or Sergeant and to consist of such officer
and two (2) or three (3) other members of the Police Department.
The primary duties of the Juvenile Squad will be the prevention of juvenile
crime and violations of law, the investigation of criminal acts by juveniles,
the apprehension of juveniles who are involved in acts or suspected thereof,
the development of cases for Juvenile Court and all other steps necessary
in juvenile crime prevention and detection. The members of the Squad will
familiarize themselves with the latest technical knowledge available in this
field and will make themselves available to all other members of the Department
whenever and wherever a crime has been committed or is suspected by a juvenile.
While the basic duties of the members of the Squad are those set forth
above, the members will be subject to call by the Chief of Police for other
duties of the Department as the need may arise and/or as time permits.
