Each parolee released from any penal institution or reformatory located
within or without the State of New York and who is now within the City of
Cohoes and such as shall hereafter come within the City of Cohoes shall immediately
identify himself/herself to and shall register with the Chief of Police of
Cohoes and shall give him such information as he shall require to enable him
to identify such person, including the name or names by which known, past
and future addresses, the name of the last penal institution or reformatory
from which paroled and the crime or crimes for which he was last confined
or committed.
The Chief of Police shall have the power and authority to communicate
with the proper authorities of each state and the federal government to obtain
such information as he shall deem necessary in furtherance of the purposes
and declarations of this article.
The provisions of this article shall not apply to parolees adjudicated
as youthful offenders or convicted for misdemeanors.
A violation of this article shall be a misdemeanor, and punishment therefor
shall be as prescribed for misdemeanors in the Penal Law of the State of New
York.
