The Youth Advisory Board is hereby established as a citizen committee
responsible to the Mayor and the Common Council whose purpose is to advise
the Director of Human Services and the Youth Bureau to develop effective policies
and programs designed to prevent, reduce, and treat youth problems; and to
provide continuous planning and service to youth in the City of Cohoes.
The Mayor of the City of Cohoes shall appoint, as members, those individuals
who are representative of the youth of the City of Cohoes. There shall be
no more than 28 and no fewer than 13 members. The membership shall elect a
Chairperson at the first meeting of each year. Of the members, at least two
shall be age 18 or under, at least one shall be a student at Cohoes High School.
At least one member shall be a representative of the Cohoes School District
administration.
Each member shall be appointed for a term of two years.
The Youth Bureau, under the supervision of the Director of Human Services,
shall promulgate bylaws for the Youth Advisory Board including the policies,
functions, and administrative rules and regulations of the Board. The bylaws
shall be approved by the Mayor prior to the initial meeting of the Board.
