The Town of Southampton owns within its boundaries
certain limited recreational areas, access roads and parking facilities
which were established for the use of the residents of the township,
including but not limited to access to the Ocean Beach Area and Bay
Beach Area. Usage of these lands and facilities by persons other than
residents has increased to the point that residents can no longer
conveniently gain access to said lands and facilities. Therefore,
the Town Board finds it necessary to regulate parking on certain recreational
areas, access roads and parking facilities by designating parking-by-permit-only
areas.
In accordance with this policy, the Town Board declares that parking on certain designated areas described in this article be restricted to vehicles displaying a permit in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 111, Beaches, Parks and Waterways, for the use of residents and nonresidents of the Town of Southampton. Access Roads (both Town and Trustee) regulated as parking-by-permit-only areas are specified in § 312-54 below.
