ALARM
Any telephonic or electronic device used to notify the Sheriff’s
or Fire Department of a fire, or an act of trespass, burglary or robbery.
[Amended 9-12-2016 by Ord. No. 583]
It is unlawful for any person to maintain an
alarm on any premises, unless there is at the Sheriff’s Department
an updated, current and accurate list of person(s) responsible to
enter such premises and deactivate such alarm. It shall be the responsibility
of the owner or person on whose premises the alarm is situated to
provide the Sheriff’s Department with a current accurate list
of person(s) responsible to enter and deactivate the alarm and any
other information as the Sheriff’s Department may require to
aid its response to and the deactivation of any alarm. It is unlawful
for any person included in such list, who has been personally contacted
by the Sheriff’s Department, to fail to appear within a reasonable
time as designated by the Sheriff’s Department and deactivate
the alarm for which he/she is responsible.
[Amended 9-12-2016 by Ord. No. 583]
In the event the owner or responsible person(s) fails to respond to the premises to deactivate the alarm within the time designated, or refuses to respond when so requested by the Sheriff’s Department, he or she shall be punished as provided in §
110-5; furthermore, the Sheriff’s Department shall neither be required to remain at the premises nor respond to subsequent alarms in the event the person(s) fails or refuses to respond as provided in §
110-2. The Town, the Fire Department, the Sheriff’s Department and their agents shall not be held responsible for any damage, loss, theft or any other cause or problems that may arise out of the owner's or responsible person's failure or refusal to respond when so requested by the Sheriff’s Department or any first responder, including Town personnel.
It is unlawful for any person to knowingly report
or give a false alarm.
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to the general penalty as provided in Chapter
