The discharge, firing, or use of all fire crackers, rockets, torpedoes,
roman candles, fire balloons, or other fireworks or substances designed and
intended for pyrotechnic display and all pistols, canes, cannons, or other
appliances using blank cartridges or caps containing chlorate of potash mixture,
is hereby prohibited in the Town of Orange. Upon written application to him,
the Chief of Police may grant written permission for a display of fireworks,
upon such conditions and with such restrictions as he may deem necessary,
provided that, in his opinion, such proposed display shall be of such character
and so located as not to constitute a hazard to surrounding property or persons.
The manufacture or sale of fireworks at retail or wholesale is prohibited
in the Town of Orange.
No provision of this chapter shall prohibit the discharge of pistols
or firearms in any public ceremony or theatrical performance.
The violation of the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed a misdemeanor
and any person found guilty of such violation shall be fined not less than
$10, nor more than $25, for each day's violation of said chapter. The
Selectmen may remove or cause to be removed, at the owner's expense,
all stocks of fireworks or other combustibles exposed for sale or held in
stock in violation of this chapter.
