Head of police force. 

A. 

The Village of Blasdell Police Department is organized in accordance with § 8-800 of the Village Law.

B. 

The Department was established by the Board of Trustees, April 3, 1933.

All positions require competitive examinations under the Civil Service Law.

The police force of the Village of Blasdell shall consist of a Police Administrator and as many other members as the Board of Trustees determines necessary for the proper protection of the village.

The Board of Trustees shall fix the amount of the salary of each village police officer.

The Police Administrator and each special policeman shall execute to the village and file with the Village Clerk, before entering upon their duties, an official undertaking in such sum and with such sureties as the Board of Trustees shall direct and approve, together with the constitutional oath.

The Police Administrator or, in his absence or inability to serve, the Acting Police Administrator shall be the head of the police force.

§ 54-7
Fire police squads. 

The authorities having control of volunteer fire departments and volunteer fire companies may organize within such departments or companies fire police squads, composed of volunteer firemen who are members of such departments or companies. Members of fire police squads, so organized, at such times as the fire department, fire company or an emergency relief squad of the fire department or fire company is on duty, shall have the powers of and render service as peace officers.
