[HISTORY: Adopted by the Planning and Zoning
Commission of the Town of Stratford, effective 5-8-1965. Amendments noted where applicable.]
PREFACE
Be it resolved by the Town Planning and Zoning Commissions of
the Town of Stratford that the following shall constitute the zoning
regulations of the Town of Stratford superseding all zoning regulations
in effect in the Town of Stratford the day before the effective date
of these Regulations and that the same be and hereby are adopted in
order to lessen congestion in the streets; to secure safety from fire,
panic and other dangers; to promote health and general welfare; to
provide adequate light and air; to prevent the overcrowding of land;
to avoid undue concentration of population; to facilitate the adequate
provision for transportation, water, sewerage, schools, parks and
other public requirements; to conserve the value of buildings and
to encourage the most appropriate use of land throughout the Town
of Stratford. This preface was adopted initially in 1965 when Stratford
had a combined Planning and Zoning Commission. The following continue
to constitute the zoning regulations on and subsequent to January
1, 1990 at which time Stratford's Planning and Zoning Commission was
separated into a Planning Commission and a Zoning Commission.
