There is hereby established the position of local historian for the City of Passaic.
The City of Passaic may appoint a local historian by appointment of the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the City Council. The local historian shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor.
The local historian shall serve without compensation, but the Council may annually appropriate such funds as may be necessary to reimburse the local historian for expenses incurred in the performance of the duties and responsibilities of historian.
The local historian shall have the powers and responsibilities as set forth in N.J.S.A. 40:10A-7, including the following:
Carry out an historical program.
Make an annual report to the Mayor of all of the work performed during the year.
Research and write the City history.
Assist in projects of commemoration.
