It shall be the responsibility of the owner
to:
A. Properly maintain any building, structure or dwelling that has been
vacated for a period of more than 30 days in an aesthetic manner consistent
with the standards of the neighborhood or such higher standards as
may be adopted by the City of Rahway.
B. File with the office of the Supervisor of Rehabilitation of Dwellings
(City Health Officer) the name(s) of the agent to contact in case
of emergency.
C. Provide certification that all utilities have been properly disconnected.
D. If, in the opinion of the Health Officer/Supervisor of Rehabilitation of Dwellings, the building or structure is not maintained to the required standards set forth in this chapter, the owner shall be subject to fines and punishment set forth in §
257-14 herein and an administrative fee of $150 to cover the overhead expenses incurred by the City of Rahway.
Any building, structure or dwelling that has
been vacant for a period of one year or more shall be inspected by
the Building Inspector in order to determine structural condition.
If, in the opinion of the Building Inspector, the building, structure or dwelling is deemed structurally unsound, the Supervisor shall order said building, structure or dwelling to be demolished in accordance with §
257-8B of this chapter.
