No person shall be eligible to hold any paid
office or employment in the Town government who holds any other Town
office, or civil office, legislative, executive or judicial, of either
the state or federal government, except that of Notary Public or members
of the National Guard or Armed Forces Reserve, and except as otherwise
provided in Chapter 227 of the Public Laws of Rhode Island, 1962,
or any other state law which supersedes this section.
No employee of the Town shall hold an elective
office in the Town government while he is in the employ of the Town.
