There is hereby established within the Town of Johnston the Johnston
Accident Reduction Enforcement (J.A.R.E.) Program for the increased enforcement
of the traffic ordinances of the Town of Johnston. Said program will incorporate,
but not be limited to, the services of two police officers five days per week.
The officers will be compensated at their overtime rate for a minimum of four
hours each.

The J.A.R.E. Program will be funded through an appropriation authorized
by the Johnston Town Council from the general fund account of the Town of
Johnston. All monies received through the efforts of the J.A.R.E. Program
shall be deposited into the general fund.

The Town of Johnston adopts any and all traffic laws as passed by the
State of Rhode Island and set forth in the Rhode Island General Laws, including
the fine schedule and definitions of terms. If and when any such Rhode Island
General Laws change in statute number, language, fine structure, jurisdiction,
etc., including the elimination or addition of such laws, it is the intent
of the Town Council of the Town of Johnston that all such changes shall be
effective in the Town of Johnston on the date of the change.
Municipal Court hearings that address State of Rhode Island traffic
laws are subject to the provisions under RIGL §§ 8-18-1 through
8-18-11 and all applicable laws of the State of Rhode Island.
