The annual election shall be held the first Tuesday in April. In odd-numbered
years, a President and three Trustees shall be elected for terms of two years;
in even-numbered years, three Trustees shall be elected for terms of two years
The Village officers shall be a President, an Administrator, and six
Trustees. All other officers shall be appointed by the Village Board at the
first meeting after the annual election.
The offices of Clerk and Treasurer having been consolidated by the adoption
of a Charter Ordinance on January 8, 1957, which authorized the Village Board
to determine the method of selection to be used in filling such office and
the Village Board having appointed a Village Administrator to act as Clerk-Treasurer,
the Village Administrator shall exercise the statutory duties specified in
§§ 61.25, 61.26 and 61.27, Wis. Stats., relating to the office
of Clerk-Treasurer.
The office of the Chief of Police, having been created by the adoption
of a Charter Ordinance dated January 29, 1963, shall be filled by appointment
by the Sauk-Prairie Police Commission in accordance with its rules.
The President shall by virtue of his or her office be a Trustee and
preside at all meetings of the Village Board and have a vote as Trustee, sign
all ordinances, rules, bylaws, regulations, commissions, and contracts adopted
or authorized by the Board, and have such other powers as are prescribed by
§ 61.24, Wis. Stats.
There shall be six Trustees on the Village Board, three of whom are
elected at each annual election. The Trustees shall constitute a board designated
the "Village Board of Trustees" in which shall be vested all the powers of
the Village not specifically given some other officers. Their term of office
shall be two years.
