This chapter is adopted as authorized under § 350.18(3)(a),
Wis. Stats.
No person shall operate a snowmobile upon any public right-of-way or
highway within the Village of Westfield at a speed in excess of that permitted
or posted for other motor vehicles or in any public park or area at a speed
in excess of 10 miles per hour.
No person shall operate a snowmobile within the Village of Westfield
between hours of 1:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., except in cases of emergency.
No person shall leave or allow a snowmobile owned or operated by him
to remain unattended on any public highway or public property while the motor
is running or with the starting key left in the ignition.
No person shall operate a snowmobile on any sidewalk or pedestrianway
within the Village of Westfield.
No person shall operate a snowmobile on any private property not owned
or occupied by him within the Village of Westfield without the express consent
or permission of the owner.
Wisconsin state snowmobile penalties as found in § 350.11(1)(a),
Wis. Stats., are adopted by reference.
Snowmobiles may be driven in areas specifically designated, under the
control of the Village Board, when appropriate signs have been erected giving
notice that snowmobiles may be operated in the area. A person may travel on
the shoulder of an established street or roadway from a residence or lodging
establishment within the corporate limits of the Village of Westfield for
the shortest distance that is necessary for a person to operate a snowmobile
to the snowmobile route or trail that is closest to that residence or lodging
establishment.
No snowmobile shall be operated on any Village street or alley within
the Village limits of the Village of Westfield, except to drive directly across
a street, at right angles, and then only after stopping and yielding the right-of-way
to all vehicles approaching on the highway, except on a designated snowmobile
route as authorized by the Village Board.
No snowmobile shall be operated within the Village limits of the Village
of Westfield unless the same shall be in proper working order and fully equipped
with a functioning muffler and operating headlight and taillight. Any snowmobile
operating during hours of darkness shall display lighted headlight and taillight.
This chapter shall be enforced by any law enforcement officer of the
Village of Westfield or of Marquette County.
