The Penn Township Municipal Building meeting rooms are for the use of the Penn Township Commissioners and others as described below in §
44-4.
Requestors shall qualify based on the following priorities: Programs,
meetings, and/or displays which are partisan, commercial (i.e. in which participants
are encouraged, either covertly or overtly, to buy a commodity or service
from the program leader or his/her organization), or which furthers one individual's
goals will not be accommodated. The following types of programs,
in priority order, are acceptable:
A. First priority: Programs/displays/meetings sponsored
by Penn Township, PTARC, Penn Trafford School District, The Penn Area Library,
or a local, regional, state, national or international accredited training
organization.
B. Second priority: Penn Township cultural or artistic or
related educational nonprofit programs and organizations sponsored by a Penn
Township civic, recreational or educational group.
C. Third priority: Balanced presentations of controversial
issues sponsored by a governmental or subsidiary agency.
The following rules are to be observed in the use of the meeting room.
A. No smoking is permitted in the Township Municipal Building.
B. Light refreshments (excluding alcohol) and food may be
served with prior approval and payment of a $100 cleaning deposit (refunded
if no custodial work is needed).
C. Any group using a meeting room will be responsible for
setting up the room according to its own needs and must restore the room to
the order in which it was found.
D. Groups requiring audiovisual equipment must make their
own arrangements; the Township does not provide this equipment.
E. Youth organizations must have at least one adult (21
years or older) per every 10 youth present at all times.
F. If the meeting is canceled, the Township Manager or his
designate should be notified as far in advance as possible.
G. The group or organization is responsible for the repair
of any damage or vandalism that occurs during its event.
H. The Township is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
I. For use of the building during nonworking hours, the
renter assumes full responsibility for turning out lights and properly securing
the entrance doors.
J. All meetings or presentations will be open to the public
should anyone wish to attend.
K. Exceptions to these rules are possible only by written
application to the Penn Township Commissioners.
L. No group or organization using a meeting room may discriminate
on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age or handicapped
status in the provision of services or attendance at any meeting or presentation.
