Unless otherwise herein expressly stated, all personnel employed by Penn Township, whether by the Penn Township Commissioners or any authority duly constituted by Penn Township, agency or committee, operating under the authority of the Penn Township Commissioners, shall have been residents of Penn Township for a period of at least one year and shall continue to be residents of Penn Township during the term of their employment.
The removal of their residence from Penn Township by any Penn Township employee shall be reason for dismissal of said employee.

The employment of a Township Solicitor, Township Engineer, Township Independent Auditor, police officers and other types of highly skilled or professional employees shall, at the discretion of the Board of Commissioners of the Township of Penn, be exempt from the residence requirements of this chapter; provided, however, that police officers who are hired by the Township of Penn must become residents of the Township of Penn within six months after the completion of the police officer's probationary period.
