The Town of Newfane, New York, has leased premises known as the "East Federal Pier" and the "West Federal Pier" located on Lake Ontario in Olcott, New York, for a term of 25 years, ending on September 13, 2023, from the federal government. Under said lease, the Town of Newfane has undertaken the responsibility to protect the safety and welfare of the general public in its use and enjoyment of said piers. The Town of Newfane has determined that the discharge of firearms off of said piers presents an immediate threat to the health, safety and welfare of the general public.
It shall be unlawful to discharge firearms off the East and West Piers located on Lake Ontario in Olcott, New York.
Every person, firm or corporation convicted of a violation of this article shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 or up to one year's imprisonment, or both such fine and imprisonment.
