Each year the Town of Babylon enters into agreements with various fire companies situated within the Town to provide for fire protection services to the various fire protection districts within the town. To ensure that sufficient information is provided to the Town of Babylon for accurate budget review, it shall be the responsibility of each fire protection district during contract negotiation to submit to the Town of Babylon an accurate accounting of actual itemized expenses incurred during the current year and an accurate accounting of all fund balances for January 1 through August 31 for the current fiscal year.
To facilitate the continuing accuracy and veracity of fire protection district budgets, the Town Comptroller or an authorized agent of the Town Comptroller is hereby authorized to inspect and examine any and all financial accounting records, accounts, books, contracts, documents, papers and procedures connected with the running of the fire district, at any time that such review is deemed necessary by the Town Board.
