Pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:9-133, there is hereby created the position of Municipal Clerk in the Township of Hanover. Said Municipal Clerk shall be appointed by a majority vote of the Township Committee of the Township of Hanover and shall have a term of three years, commencing on January 1 in the year in which one is appointed to the position of Municipal Clerk and terminating on December 31 three years hence.
A. 
The duties of the Municipal Clerk of the Township of Hanover shall be to attend all meetings of the Township Committee of the Township of Hanover and record the proceedings, certify all ordinances, resolutions and official records of the Township, administer oaths in all matters concerning Township business and perform all functions in connection with elections as required by law.
B. 
In addition, the Municipal Clerk shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Township Committee.
C. 
The Municipal Clerk shall maintain office hours at the Hanover Township Municipal Building between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except when said days fall on legal holidays or the Hanover Township Municipal Building is closed.

Pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:9-135, there is hereby created the position of Deputy Municipal Clerk in the Township of Hanover. Said Deputy Municipal Clerk shall be appointed by a majority vote of the Township Committee of the Township of Hanover and shall have a term of one year, commencing on January 1 in the year in which one is appointed to the position of Deputy Municipal Clerk and terminating on December 31 of that year. The compensation of the Deputy Municipal Clerk shall be in accordance with the Salary Ordinance.[1]

During the absence or disability of the Municipal Clerk, the Deputy Municipal Clerk shall have all of the powers of the Municipal Clerk and shall perform the functions and duties of such office. Said Deputy Municipal Clerk shall also perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Municipal Clerk.

In the event that the person appointed to the position of Municipal Clerk shall be the same person appointed to the position of Administrator in the Township of Hanover, said appointment shall not receive any other or additional compensation than that received as Administrator of the Township of Hanover. In the event that the person appointed to the position of Municipal Clerk is not the same person appointed to the position of Administrator, the compensation of the Municipal Clerk shall be fixed by the Township Committee by ordinance.[1]
