Under the direction of the Tax Collector, on a regular
and recurring basis, the Assistant Municipal Tax Collector shall plan,
organize, manage and coordinate the various activities of the office
in accordance with state and local laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
The Assistant Municipal Tax Collector shall also perform other related
work as required.
Graduation from an accredited college or university
with a bachelor's degree. Four years of experience in either municipal
tax collection administration, or in the collection and recording
of municipal tax revenues, or in preparing, maintaining, or auditing
records of municipal tax accounts. An applicant who does not meet
the above educational requirement may substitute additional work experience
as described above on a year-for-year basis with 30 semester hour
credits being equal to one year of experience, or possess a current,
valid tax collector's certificate issued by the New Jersey Department
of Community Affairs.
If the Assistant Municipal Tax Collector shall perform
all duties of the office of Tax Collector in his or her absence, the
Assistant Municipal Tax Collector shall possess certificates showing
satisfactory completion of courses in Municipal Tax Collection I,
II or III offered by Rutger's University, or a current and valid tax
collector's certificate issued by the New Jersey Department of Community
Affairs.
A valid driver's license in New Jersey, only if the
operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary
to perform the essential duties of the position.
