There shall be a 3-member Board of Engineers
appointed by the Board of Selectmen on a rotating basis of 1 member
each year for a 3-year term. Upon the expiration of terms of the Board
of Engineers in the first year after the effective date of this provision,
the Board of Selectmen shall appoint 1 member for a 1-year term, one
member for a 2-year term and one member for a 3-year term, and in
every year thereafter, upon the expiration of any member's term, shall
appoint each member for a term of 3 years. The Board of Fire Engineers'
duties and authority shall include, but shall not be limited to, those
specified in M.G.L. ch. 48, §§ 45-49, 51-54, 74-75,
specifically including the authority to appoint the Fire Department
officers and the responsibility to approve and oversee the financial
operations of the Department.
