This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Conewago Township House Numbering Ordinance."
All houses and commercial or industrial buildings within Conewago Township shall have the house number or address number of the residence, dwelling or business establishment displayed on the house, dwelling or business establishment and mailbox. These numbers shall be of contrasting color to the mailbox, house, dwelling or business establishment and shall be no less than three inches in height. On mailboxes, the number shall be displayed on both sides, and on houses or other buildings, the number shall be affixed to the house, dwelling or business establishment so as to be visible from the roadway. Where a home or business establishment is located more than 300 feet from a roadway, the house, dwelling or business establishment need not be marked. However, if more than one home, dwelling or business establishment is located on a common drive, all houses, buildings and mailboxes for those buildings must be marked so as to be visible from the lane or common drive.
Residents shall have a period of 30 days from the adoption of this chapter to comply with the same.
Upon issuance of a building permit, the Township representative issuing the permit shall inform the building permit applicant of the requirements of this chapter.
Upon notification in writing by a representative of Conewago Township, the notified party shall have an additional 30 days from the date of the letter to comply with this chapter.

Any person who violates or permits a violation of § 60-2 of this chapter shall, upon being found liable therefor in a civil enforcement proceeding commenced by the Township before a Magisterial District Judge, pay a fine of not more than $600, plus all court costs, including reasonable attorneys' fees, incurred by the Township in the enforcement of this chapter. Each day a violation exists shall constitute a separate offense, once notice has been given to the party violating the chapter by written notification pursuant to § 60-5 hereof. Further, the appropriate officers or agents of the Township are hereby authorized to enforce compliance by filing an action in equity in lieu of a civil action filed before a Magisterial District Judge.
