The Town agrees to utilize a Life Safety Inspector, or other appropriate
fire official to serve as an assistant to the State Fire Marshal to carry
out the responsibilities and functions of the State Fire Marshal within the
corporate limits of the Town of Denton. The Town may utilize the Life Safety
Inspector to perform other fire safety inspections pursuant to any building
code or regulations adopted by the Town as necessary.
A. Contractual position. The Town will contract with the
Denton Volunteer Fire Department, which will hire the Life Safety Inspector
to assist the Town on an as-needed basis to assist the State Fire Marshal
with the enforcement of state law and fire safety practices within the Town
of Denton.
B. Minimum qualifications. The Life Safety Inspector shall
have the following minimum qualifications:
(1) Completion of the National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA) Fire Inspector 1;
(2) A high school diploma or its equivalent;
(3) A current driver's license; and
(4) A basic understanding of hydraulic calculations for water
systems.
The Town shall adopt a fee schedule for services to be rendered by the
Life Safety Inspector. Such fees shall be paid by the property owner or permittee directly
to the Denton Volunteer Fire Department.
