[Amended 11-19-2018 by L.L. No. 29-2018]
The violation of any provision of this code shall be an offense against the code which shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $2,000 and/or 15 days in jail, or by both such fine and imprisonment. The owner of a building, structure or premises or part thereof, where anything in violation of this code shall be placed or shall exist, and any architect, builder, contractor, agent, person or corporation employed in connection therewith and who may have assisted in the commission of such violations shall be guilty of a separate offense and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished as herein provided.
The imposition of the penalties herein prescribed shall not preclude the Village Attorney from instituting any appropriate action or proceeding to prevent an unlawful erection, construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, conversion, maintenance or use, or to restrain, correct or abate a violation or to prevent an illegal act, conduct, business or use in or about any premises.
No oversight or dereliction of duty on the part of the Superintendent of Public Works shall legalize the erecting, construction, alteration, removal of, use or occupancy of a building or structure that does not conform to the provisions of the Plumbing Code.
