All definitions in this article are as set forth
in P.L. 1985, c. 439 (N.J.S.A. 40A:14-146.9 et seq.).

A. All appointments of special law enforcement officers
shall be made by the governing body for a term of one year. Special
law enforcement officers shall not be continued as regular members
of the Police Department and shall not be entitled to tenure.
B. All of the appointments shall be made in accordance
with N.J.S.A. 40A:14-146.10 et seq., and all special law enforcement
officers shall meet all the requirements therein.
Special law enforcement officers in the Borough
of North Arlington shall all be classified as Class One under P.L.
1985, c. 439 (N.J.S.A. 40A:14-146.9 et seq.).

The Borough of North Arlington shall furnish
all uniforms and insignia to all special law enforcement officers
in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:14-146.12.
The special police officer shall be deemed to
be on duty while performing public safety functions on behalf of the
Borough of North Arlington under this article.
Special law enforcement officers shall be under
the supervision and direction of the Chief of Police and shall comply
with the rules and regulations applicable to the conduct and decorum
of the permanent, regularly appointed police officers in the Borough
of North Arlington and any rules and regulations applicable to the
conduct and decorum of special police.

Special law enforcement officers shall be and
hereby are subject to and governed by all requirements, limitations
and specifications set forth in N.J.S.A. 40A:14-146.8 et seq.
