The Planning Commission shall consist of seven members, all of whom shall be residents of the Township of Bethel. The terms of office of the members shall be four years or until a successor is appointed, except that no more than two members shall be reappointed or replaced during any calendar year.

The powers and duties of the Bethel Township Planning Commission shall be as set forth in Article II of Act 247 of 1968, the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code.[1]

The members of the Planning Commission shall serve without compensation and shall reside within the Township.
The members shall hold no other Township office except that of member of the Township Zoning Hearing Board or Township Zoning Commission.
Any appointment to fill a vacancy, if any occurs, shall be only for the unexpired portion of the term.
The Commission shall elect its own chairman and secretary.
The Commission may make and alter rules for its procedure consistent with the Township ordinances and the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The Commission shall keep a record of its resolutions, transactions, findings and determinations.
The Planning Commission shall neither incur nor make expenditures other than those for which appropriations were made by the Board of Supervisors.
The Commission shall make such studies, prepare and formulate such plans of development of the Township as it shall deem necessary and proper, and in accordance with the requirements of the ordinances of the Township and the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In general, it shall have such powers as will reasonably enable it to carry out its purpose and promote Township planning.
