There shall be a Health Department, the head
of which shall be the Commissioner of Health. He shall be a physician
licensed to practice medicine in the State of New York.
The Commissioner of Health shall be appointed
for a term of four (4) years. He shall be under the direction and
supervision of the Mayor. He shall be the chief health officer of
the city.
The Commissioner of Health shall:
A.
Be responsible for and shall supervise all public
health activities of the city. He shall be responsible for and perform
all duties prescribed by any law relating to public health of the
State of New York.
B.
Keep and maintain all vital statistics of the city,
and prepare, attest and report on such vital statistics.
