There is hereby created and established the office of Borough Physician of the Borough of South Plainfield.
The Borough Physician shall be a medical physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of New Jersey.
He shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Council for a term of one year and shall hold office for said term from the date of his appointment or reappointment, as the case may be, and shall serve until his successor is appointed and qualified. A vacancy arising in said office from any cause other than the expiration of the term of office shall be filled for the unexpired term only.
The Borough Physician shall be required to examine all Borough employees for the purpose of ascertaining whether or not they are physically able to perform the duties of their office or position, and shall render such other service when called upon by resolution of the Mayor and Council and shall perform such duties as are or hereafter may be prescribed by any ordinance of the Borough of South Plainfield or the laws of the State of New Jersey.[1]
