No person shall, during a fire or fire drill,
drive or operate any vehicle over any hose or fire apparatus.
No person shall willfully hinder or molest a
member of the Fire Department or other Borough officer in the performance
of his duty at a fire.
No person shall raise, create or continue a
false alarm of fire or operate a fire alarm box without reasonable
cause.
No person shall deposit hot ashes on any wooden
floor of any building or in any wooden receptacle or against any wooden
fence or building within the limits of the Borough of South Plainfield.
It shall be unlawful for any person or persons
to burn or cause to be burned any wastepaper or other combustible
material at any time within the limits of the Borough of South Plainfield,
Middlesex County, except and unless such wastepaper and combustible
material refuse may be burned in a receptacle so constructed as to
confine and control the fire in such manner as to prevent the spreading
of the fire to lands or buildings of other persons or persons' properties.
It shall be unlawful at any time for any person
or persons to burn brush, weeds, grass or leaves or other light material
in the Borough of South Plainfield without first obtaining a permit
from the Fire Chief of the local Fire Department or other designated
person named by the fire company for the area in which said brush,
weeds, grass, leaves or other light material is to be burned. Said
permit shall state the name and address of the person or persons obtaining
said permit and shall be good only on the date it is issued and between
the hours of sunrise and sunset and only when sufficient assistance
is in attendance. The holder of such permit shall be held liable at
all times for any damage done to any other person or person's property
through the burning of said brush, weeds, grass, leaves or other light
material.
The Fire Chief of the local fire company shall
keep a record of all such permits issued.
Any person violating any of the provisions of this article shall,
upon conviction thereof, be punishable by a fine not exceeding $2,000,
imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days or a period of community
service not exceeding 90 days, or any combination thereof.
