A Police Department is hereby formally established in and for the Borough of Bell Acres. The Mayor shall be the chief executive of the Police Department. He shall be in charge of the police force and have supervision over its members in the exercise of their powers, duties and authority.

The following classifications are hereby established in the Police Department: Chief of Police, Assistant Chief of Police, Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Patrolman, Street Safety Patrolman, Deskman and Radio Operator and such clerical help as the Borough Council may appoint from time to time. The number of persons to serve in each of such subordinate classifications on a full-time or a part-time basis and the compensation of each shall be as determined by the Borough Council from time to time.
Nothing herein contained shall affect the authority of the Mayor to appoint special policemen in accordance with the provisions of the Borough Code.[1]

All acts and deeds heretofore lawfully performed by the existing police force and the appointments of all members of the present police force, effective as of the dates of their employment, are hereby ratified, adopted and approved.
