The Town voted to establish a Council on Aging consisting of
from seven to 11 citizens of this Town, appointed by the Town Manager for terms not to exceed four years for any member. Said
terms shall be staggered so that not more than three appointments
shall be made in any calendar year. Members can be reappointed for
concurrent terms.
The duties of said Council on Aging shall be to:
A. Identify the total needs of the community's elderly population.
B. Educate the community and enlist support and participation of all
citizens concerning these needs.
C. Design, promote or implement services to fill these needs or coordinate
presently existing services in the community.
D. Promote and support any other programs which are designed to assist
elderly people in the community.
Said Council on Aging shall cooperate with the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts Commission on Aging and shall be cognizant of all
state and federal legislation concerning funding, information exchange
and program planning which exists for better community programming
for the elderly.
Said Council on Aging shall give an annual report to the Board
of Selectmen, with a copy of that report directed to the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts Commission on Aging.
