The Towanda Borough Council, upon enactment of this chapter,
does hereby create the Towanda Borough Shade Tree Commission and does
empower it with all the rights as permitted it under the Borough Code
of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.[1]
The Towanda Borough Shade Tree Commission shall be composed of three
residents of the Borough who shall be appointed by the Borough Council
and who shall serve without compensation. One member shall be a Council
person; one member shall be a citizen with knowledge of trees, their
types, maintenance, etc., and one member shall be an employee of the
Borough.
Upon the establishment of the Towanda Borough Shade Tree Commission,
the Council shall appoint one member for a three-year term, one for
a four-year term and one for a five-year term. On the expiration of
the term of any Commissioner, a successor shall be appointed by the
Council to serve for a term of five years. Vacancies in the Towanda
Borough Shade Tree Commission shall be filled by Council for the unexpired
term.
