Pursuant to C.G.S. § 9-206a(a), the Town of Bethany
does hereby fix the terms and method of rotation of members of the
Board of Education as follows:
A. The members of the Board of Education in office on the day following
the date of the adoption of this article shall continue as such members
for the respective terms for which they or the persons they are succeeding
in office have been elected.
B. There shall be three members elected at the municipal election of
2023, two of whom shall be elected for a term of four years and one
of whom shall be elected for a term of two years.
C. There shall be four members elected at the municipal election of
2025, all of whom shall be elected for a term of four years.
D. There shall
be five members elected at the municipal election of the 2027, all
of whom shall be elected for a term of four years.
E. Thereafter
at each biennial election there shall be elected four or five members,
as appropriate, to hold office for a term of four years to succeed
those whose terms have expired.
This article shall not take effect until six months after its
adoption in accordance with C.G.S. § 9-206a(a).

In accordance with Section 9-204b of the General Statutes of
the State of Connecticut, commencing with the 2025 municipal election
and for each biennial election thereafter, when the number of members
to be elected is odd or even, any elector may vote for all of that
number and the persons receiving the greatest number of votes shall
be elected, except for the provisions of Section 9-167a governing
minority representation. Each political party shall have the right
to nominate as many persons as there are vacancies on the Board and
those names shall be placed upon the ballot.
Pursuant to C.G.S. § 10-46(c), members of the Amity
Regional Board of Education, District 5, representing the Town of
Bethany, shall be nominated and elected in the same manner as Town
officers in accordance with the provisions of the elections laws,
Title 9 of the General Statutes, beginning with the nomination and
election of Town officers in May of 1981.
