This chapter shall be known as the "Newtown Township Natural Features and Landscaping Ordinance" and may be cited as the "Township Landscape Ordinance."
A. 
It is the purpose of the Township of Newtown through this chapter to maintain the open character of a Green Countrie Towne community, while accommodating future growth and protecting the community's natural resources from the adverse impacts of development.
B. 
These regulations are also intended to protect the rights of the residents of Newtown Township to enjoy clean air, pure water and the natural, scenic, historic and aesthetic values of the environment, as set forth in the Pennsylvania Constitution and in other commonwealth and federal statutes.
C. 
These regulations are also intended to require landscaping and planting that will enhance the properties being developed and complement surrounding communities.
The scope of this chapter is as follows:
A. 
To provide shade trees along public roads within the Township, including type of tree, initial planting, care of trees and replacement of trees.
B. 
To control disturbances and the landscaping of land on all lots or tracts except those which are or will be utilized for single-family residences or farming.
C. 
To establish the position of Landscape Inspector of Newtown Township.
