The City of Port Republic Transfer Station shall be available for use by the residents of the City of Port Republic for the disposal of Type 13 (household trash to be compacted) and Type 10 (bulky items for open-top containers) and other recyclables as defined in §
231-6 of the Code of the City of Port Republic (collectively "trash").
Any resident desiring to use the Transfer Station shall make
application to the City Clerk for a Transfer Station permit. This
application shall include, but not be limited to, the following information:
A. The name,
address, lot and block number of the resident.
B. The make,
model, year and license plate number of the vehicle used to transport
trash to the Transfer Station.
Permits will be issued to legal residents of the City of Port
Republic. The City Clerk shall also require all residents to provide
the Clerk with proof acceptable to the Clerk of the residency. It
shall be unlawful for any resident to transfer, sell, loan or give
their permit to any other person.
The permit shall be displayed in the drivers-side corner of
the windshield of the vehicle at all times when the vehicle is at
the Transfer Station. No person shall be permitted to dispose of any
solid waste without having a permit properly displayed.
It shall be unlawful for any person or entity to dispose of
trash in the Port Republic Transfer Station that has been derived
from any commercial enterprise.
It shall be unlawful for any person or entity to dispose of
trash in the Port Republic Transfer Station that has been generated
from or by any household or business outside the City limits of Port
Republic.
Each residence shall be entitled to dispose of the maximum of
the equivalent of one four-foot by eight-foot pickup truck load per
week of Type 10 trash or brush.
The fee for replacing a lost or stolen permit shall be $15.
Any person violating this article shall be subject to a fine
of up to $1,000 and/or imprisonment in jail for up to 90 days.
