A. 
Annual elections.
(1) 
Every year at its Annual Meeting the Town of Charlton shall choose by ballot from its registered voters the following Town officials for the designated term of office of any incumbent whose term has expired; all terms are for three (3) years unless otherwise specified. All officials who hold office at the time of adoption of this bylaw shall continue to serve their term of office:
(a) 
Five (5) Selectmen.
(b) 
One (1) Town Clerk.
(c) 
One (1) Moderator.[1]

(2) 
All of these offices shall be compensated in such manner and amount as the Town Meeting shall determine.

All other Town officials shall be appointed by the Board of Selectman, and each such official's term of appointment by the Board of Selectmen shall be from July 1 to June 30. Appointed officials include the following:
