There are hereby created the offices of Deputy Municipal Clerk, Deputy Tax Collector, Deputy Building Inspector, Deputy Zoning Officer and Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics.

The Township Committee of the Township of Eagleswood may appoint a Deputy Municipal Clerk, Deputy Tax Collector, Deputy Building Inspector, Deputy Zoning Officer and Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics as, in its sole discretion, it deems necessary. The term of such offices shall be for one year, commencing January 1 of each year and ending on December 31, or until a successor is appointed. Should the office become vacant during any term, it shall be filled by a similar appointment, but for the unexpired term only.

All Deputies shall be of legal age.

The duties of the Deputy Municipal Clerk, Deputy Tax Collector, Deputy Building Inspector, Deputy Zoning Officer and Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics shall be to act as respective Municipal Clerk, Municipal Tax Collector, Municipal Building Inspector, Municipal Zoning Officer and Municipal Registrar of Vital Statistics in the absence or disability of the respective officer, and they shall have all the powers and shall perform all of the functions and duties of the said office during the respective absence or disability of the said officer. At all other times, the said Deputies shall act as assistants to their respective officers and shall be under the direction and control of said officers in charge of said offices and shall perform such other duties and functions as are required by the said offices or by the Township Committee of the Township of Eagleswood.
The salaries of the aforesaid Deputies shall be as designated by ordinance as required by Title 40A of the New Jersey Statutes and as set forth in the Salary Ordinance of the Township of Eagleswood. Notwithstanding that the Deputy may act in the capacity of the officer to which he is Deputy for any extended period of time, he shall not by such reason be entitled to an increase in salary other than as set forth in the Salary Ordinance.
