§ 5-7-1 Office created.

There is hereby created the Office of Village Collector, who shall be appointed by the Mayor by and with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees, and shall serve until a successor is appointed and qualified. The Village Director of Finance shall serve as the Village Collector.

§ 5-7-2 Bond.

The Collector shall give bond as provided by statute and Chapter 21, Administration, § 21-1-6, of this Code. The bond shall be conditioned upon the faithful performance by the Collector of the duties of his office, and shall indemnify the Village for any loss due to any neglect of duty or wrongful act or omission on the part of the Collector.

§ 5-7-3 General duties.

The Collector shall perform such duties as may be prescribed for him by statute, ordinance, or direction of the corporate authorities, including the collection of taxes, special assessments and other moneys. All such moneys shall be paid over by him to the Village Treasurer.

§ 5-7-4 Books and accounts.

The Collector shall keep such books and accounts and make such written reports as may be required by statute or by the Mayor and Board of Trustees, and shall keep them in the manner required by the Mayor and Board of Trustees.
