For the purpose of enforcing the provisions of this Article,
the Mayor is hereby empowered to appoint an Animal Control Officer,
whose appointment shall be confirmed by the Council and whose duty
it shall be to assist the Chief of Police in impounding stock found
running at large, in violation of this Article.

It shall be unlawful for any person to refuse to deliver to
the Animal Control Officer any animal, fowl or reptile, when requested
to do so under the provisions of this Chapter.

It is hereby made the duty of the Animal Control Officer to
at all times have in suitable repair a pound within the City, and
he/she shall have control of the same.

If an animal is lawfully taken into custody by the Animal Control
Officer or an Officer of the Monett Police Department and the owner
of said animal is unknown, the Animal Control Officer or an Officer
of the Monett Police Department is hereby authorized, at his/her discretion,
to cause said animal to be humanely euthanized.
